Coffee is a seed (bean) that is harvested all around the world. It is one of the top three commodities traded each year, along with oil and tea. Farmers in tropical climates work hard for their buyers to produce consistent, quality, sustainable sources of coffee beans. Much of their efforts go unnoticed by the consumer. Valiant Coffee Roasters carefully selects top-grade coffee beans from some of the smallest farmers in the world, purchased by brokers who care about these famers and know their struggles. The crew at Valiant takes great care in the roasting process and exclusively roasts in small batches to ensure control and consistency. Fourscore has been partnered with Valiant Coffee since 2015 to bring you locally-roasted and passionately crafted coffee beans!

Four Score Family

You may or may not know, but Valiant and Four Score are tight as family. Luke and Erik began Valiant in 2014. Shortly after, Luke started Four Score and we’ve been working together ever since.

Try, Try again.

Coffee roasting, like brewing, is all about sensory. Here Luke samples the aromatics using a tool called the trier. It’s built into all roasting machines and allows the user to sample or “try” beans the roast progresses.

Luke and Erik are adamant DIY guys. This stubborn persistence has led the branding and direction for Valiant for some time. Here you see the guys stamping bags for shipping. (this was how they did it years ago)

Dynamic Duo

Although you may not see Erik behind the bar at Four Score, you might have caught him make an appearance at an event or two. Here the guys work hard to serve a group of 500.

Prestigious Pour

After literal years behind the bar, and tens of thousands of pours, Luke has perfected the craft of Latte Art and could probably pour a swan in his sleep.
